Native Hawaiian Social Enterprise providing culturally-grounded products and services to reconnect Native Hawaiians to our heritage.

Kū-A-Kanaka is a Native Hawaiian social enterprise headquartered in Hilo on Hawaiʻi Island, owned and operated by the Kahakalau ʻOhana.  Grounded in over 35 years of experience in practicing Hawaiian language and culture and Hawaiian-focused education, our award-winning staff provide quality products and services that revitalize Hawaiian language, culture and traditions and reconnect kanaka worldwide to our native heritage.  We believe that when Natives thrive, everyone benefits!

Our products include Cards for 808, a party game based on Hawaiʻi trivia, along with its three Extension packs focusing on Hula, Old Futs and Aloha ʻĀina.  We also provide online workshops and courses designed specifically for Hawaiian families and organizations to learn Hawaiian language together through hands-on food preparation and other everyday activities.

Spearheaded by our award-winning lead educational consultant Dr. Kū Kahakalau, Kū-A-Kanaka also provides expert consulting on how to implement our highly effective Pedagogy of Aloha in the classroom, the environment and online, project- and place-based learning, Kanaka Entrepreneurship, Hawaiian protocol, Hawaiian organizational development etc.  We also conduct Indigenous Research and Evaluation, provide Hawaiian language translations and Hawaiian website design and consultation.

All profits go to sponsor EA Ecoversity, an innovative, independent higher education and career training program for Native Hawaiian youth and young adults interested in learning more about their heritage as they striving to reach their highest potential.
